How to use Quran Feham

Short, step-by-step help for everything in the app: reading, the 15-line Mushaf, family Khatm rooms, your daily goal and more. Each topic ends with a link to try it.

Read the Quran

Read with translation

The Quran reader shows every surah in Arabic with a translation under each ayah, and can recite it for you.

Choose a surah or Para
Open Quran and pick from the Surahs (1–114) or Paras (1–30) list. Search by name, number or Arabic, for example “Baqarah”, “36” or “يٰس”.
Pick your translation
Use the translation menu at the top of the reader. Your choice is remembered for next time.
Adjust the Arabic size
Drag the Aa slider until the Arabic is comfortable to read.
Listen to an ayah
Tap Study on an ayah, then Listen. Choose your reciter in Account settings: Mishary Alafasy, Abdur-Rahman as-Sudais, Ali al-Hudhaify or Maher al-Muaiqly.
Try Direct Arabic
Turn on Direct Arabic to fade the translations so you read the Arabic first. Tap an ayah to reveal its translation.

Tip: Each surah opens with the Bismillah on its own line, as in a printed Mushaf (except At-Tawbah, which has none).

Study an ayah word by word

The Study sheet breaks one ayah into its words, with the meaning and pronunciation of each, so you understand what you recite.

Tap Study
Every ayah in the reader has a Study button. On a phone the sheet slides up; on a computer it opens beside the text.
Read the word-by-word meanings
Each Arabic word is shown with its short English meaning underneath.
Tap a word
See its meaning and transliteration larger, and tap play to hear that single word. For common words, I know this or Review later adds it to your Learn practice.
Listen and save
Listen plays the whole ayah. Save adds it to your bookmarks so you can come back to it.
Move to the next ayah
Use the arrows beside Listen to step to the previous or next ayah without closing the sheet.

Tip: Word meanings and word audio come from Quran.Foundation, credited at the bottom of the sheet.

Bookmarks and picking up where you left off

Quran Feham remembers your place and the ayahs you save, so you never have to hunt for where you stopped.

Continue from Home
Home shows Continue reading with the surah and ayah you last read. One tap takes you back.
Save an ayah
Tap the bookmark on any ayah, or Save in the Study sheet.
Open your bookmarks
Bookmarks has two tabs: Saved ayahs, and Reading history for the places you read recently.
Track your progress
Progress shows what you have learned and listened to. You can export it as a file and import it on another device.

Tip: Bookmarks are kept in this browser. Sign in so your reading place follows you to your other devices.

15-line Mushaf

Read the 15-line Mushaf

The familiar 15-line South Asian Mushaf, page by page, for reading the way you would from a printed copy.

Open the Mushaf
It opens on the page where you stopped last time. Your Para and page are remembered.
Turn the page
Swipe left or right on a phone, tap the arrows at the sides, or use the arrow keys on a computer. The page curls like paper.
Jump to a Para or page
Use Jump to Para for any of the 30 Paras, or Go to page for an exact page number.
Choose a page colour
In Reading settings pick Light, Sepia or Night for comfortable reading in any light.
Set page size and order
Zoom in or out, go full screen (press F on a computer), and choose Quran flow (first page on the right) or Book flow.
Switch to translation
Read these ayahs with translation opens the same passage in the Quran reader.

Tip: Every page you read in the Mushaf counts towards your daily reading goal.

Download Paras for offline reading

Keep Mushaf pages on your device so you can read at the masjid, while travelling or with no signal.

Open Downloads
Downloads lists all 30 Paras and shows which are already saved on this device.
Download a Para
Tap a Para to save its pages. A progress bar shows how far it has got.
Read without internet
Downloaded Paras open in the Mushaf even when you are offline.
Get a PDF
Inside the Mushaf, Download Para PDF saves the current Para as a PDF you can keep or print.
Free up space
Remove offline copy deletes a Para you no longer need.

Tip: If your phone runs out of space, remove a Para you have finished, then try again.

Khatm rooms

Start a Khatm room

Complete the whole Quran together with family or friends. Each person takes a Para, and everyone can see what remains.

Sign in
Khatm rooms are shared, so they need a free account and an internet connection.
Create a room
Open Khatm and choose Create room. Give it a name and, if you like, an intention such as Isal-e-Sawab for a loved one.
Set the schedule
Choose a start date and a target date. You can run more than one Khatm at once and limit how many Paras each person holds.
Invite the family
Share the private link on WhatsApp or any app, or give people the 8-character room code.

Tip: Only people with your link or code can join. If a link spreads too far, create a new invitation and the old one stops working.

Join a room and read your Para

Join a room you were invited to, choose a free Para and mark it done when you finish.

Open the invitation
Tap the link you received, or open Khatm and paste the link or 8-character code, then Join room.
Choose a Para
Free Paras are clearly marked. Claim & open the 15-line Mushaf takes you straight to its first page, or choose Claim only.
Read
Read in the Mushaf, or with translation in the Quran reader. Your place is remembered.
Mark it complete
Choose Mark Para complete. Everyone in the room sees it update. If you tapped it by mistake, Reopen undoes it.
Can't finish?
Release the Para so someone else can take it.

Tip: After signing in from an invitation, Quran Feham brings you back to the same room to join.

Run the room: owner controls, reminders and the next Daurah

The room owner keeps the Khatm moving: reminding readers, reassigning Paras and starting the next round.

Manage Paras
Select any Para to give it to a member, free it for anyone, or mark it read. Members & roles lets you remove someone or make another person owner.
Schedule reminders
Turn on automatic reminders three days or one day before the deadline, or add one for any date and time. Members are reminded on their device and by e-mail.
Share a report
Download a CSV report of every Para, or print a summary or save it as PDF.
Start the next Daurah
When all 30 Paras are done, Start next Daurah begins a fresh round. Repeat automatically starts it for you every 3 days, weekly or every 2 weeks.
Look back
Daurah history keeps the record of earlier rounds.

Tip: Send yourself a test notification first to check that reminders reach your phone.

Daily reading goal and reminder

Set how many Mushaf pages you want to read each day and a time to be reminded. Steady, small reading adds up.

Open Daily goal & reminder
Find the card on Home, or in Reading settings inside the Mushaf.
Choose pages per day
Pick a number you can keep. Even one page counts.
Set a reminder time
Turn on the daily reminder and allow notifications when your browser asks.
Read in the Mushaf
Every page you read in the 15-line Mushaf is counted for you automatically.

Tip: On iPhone, add Quran Feham to your Home Screen first; iPhones only show reminders for installed apps.

Install the app on your phone

Add Quran Feham to your Home Screen so it opens with one tap, full screen, like any other app. No app store needed.

On Android (Chrome)
Tap Install app on the Home screen card, or open Chrome’s ⋮ menu and choose Install app or Add to Home screen.
On iPhone or iPad (Safari)
Open fehmequran.org in Safari and tap the Share button.
Add to Home Screen
Scroll down, choose Add to Home Screen, then Add.
Open it from your Home Screen
Quran Feham now opens full screen and can use the Paras you downloaded offline.

Tip: The install card disappears once Quran Feham is running as an installed app.

Learn, Recite, Salah, Explore

Learn the Quran’s most frequent words

A few minutes of daily practice with the words the Quran uses most: their meaning, their sound and the ayahs they appear in.

Start practice
Open Learn and tap Start practice. Reviews of words you already know come first, then new words, one prompt at a time.
Answer the prompt
A new word starts with its meaning. Later reviews ask you to recognise its spelling, find it in an ayah, or hear it recited and recall the meaning.
Rate how well you knew it
Again, Hard, Good or Easy decides when the word comes back. A word you miss returns once more at the end of the session.
Practise one stage
Curriculum lists the four stages, from Salah and daily dhikr to core verbs. Practise any stage on its own and see how much of it you understand.
Use the reference
Reference has three tabs: Words, Patterns for pronouns, prepositions and verb forms, and Surahs.

Tip: In the reader’s Study sheet, I know this or Review later on a common word adds it to the same practice queue. Your streak and Due tomorrow count are at the top of Learn.

Recite: listen, understand and memorise

Practise a passage of your choice by ear: listen ayah by ayah, test which words you understand, and work on Hifz.

Choose what to practise
Open Recite and pick a surah, the From and To ayahs, and a reciter.
Listen
Play the range, repeat each ayah up to 10 times, loop it, and slow down to 0.5× or speed up to 1.5×. Turn on Word by word to follow along, and tap any word to hear it.
Understand
Hear a single word, then pick its meaning from four choices. Answers given by ear count towards your listening accuracy.
Memorise
Show all words, only their first letters, or hide them all. Tap a hidden word to reveal it.
Test from memory
Read or hear the ayah before, recite the next one, reveal it to check, then rate it Again, Hard, Good or Easy. Each ayah is marked Memorised or Needs work.

Tip: Hiding words and testing yourself work offline. Recitation help with a microphone, such as live correction and Tajweed feedback, is planned and labelled so on the screen.

Salah: understand what you recite

Walk through a rakah step by step and understand every word you say in the prayer, from the opening takbir to the taslim.

Start the walkthrough
Open Salah and tap Start the walkthrough. It goes in order: takbir, Thana, Al-Fatihah, a short surah, ruku, rising, sujud, Tashahhud, Durood, the closing dua and taslim.
Read each step
Every step shows the Arabic, a transliteration and the meaning, with where it comes from. Common words show their own meaning underneath; tap one for more.
Choose your short surah
At the short-surah step, pick the one you usually recite, such as Al-Ikhlas or Al-Kawthar, and listen to each ayah.
Hear and practise words
Use Hear this word for its pronunciation, and I know this or Review later to add it to your Learn practice.
Mark it studied
Mark as studied when a step feels clear. Next time, Continue the walkthrough picks up where you left off.

Tip: The words of every step are kept in the app, so the walkthrough works offline. Texts still being checked are labelled Awaiting scholarly review.

Explore: search, words, roots and browse

Search the whole Quran in Arabic or a translation, look up its most frequent words and their roots, and browse by surah, Para or Mushaf page.

Search the Quran
On the Search tab, type a word or phrase and choose Arabic or Translation. Type a reference such as 2:255 to go straight to that ayah. Press / to jump to the search box.
Look up a word
Words lists Learn’s high-frequency words. Filter by stage, part of speech or practice status, then open one for its meaning, root, frequency and an ayah word by word.
Practise it
Practise this word on a word page adds it to your Learn review.
Follow a root
Roots groups those words by their root letters. Search by root, such as ر ح م, or by meaning.
Browse
Browse lists surahs, Paras and Mushaf pages, and opens any of them in the reader or the 15-line Mushaf.

Tip: Searching needs a connection, but Words, Roots and Browse keep working offline.

Account & settings

Your account and sync

You can read without an account. A free account keeps your reading place and preferences in step across devices, and is needed for Khatm rooms.

Create an account
Enter your name, e-mail and a password of at least 6 characters. You start reading straight away.
Sign in on each device
You stay signed in until you sign out. Your reading place, translation, reciter and theme follow you.
See where you are signed in
Account lists your active sessions; end any you don’t recognise.
Forgot your password?
Use Forgot password on the sign-in screen to set a new one.

Tip: Until you sign in, a banner at the top reminds you that progress is saved on this device only.

Settings and themes

Make Quran Feham comfortable for your eyes and your reading habits.

Open Account
Preferences are at the top of the Account screen.
Choose a theme
Light is the default; choose Dark for the whole app at night.
Set translation, reciter and Arabic size
These become your defaults in the Quran reader.
Mushaf page colour
The Mushaf has its own Light, Sepia and Night pages in Reading settings.

Tip: Settings save on this device straight away and sync to your account when you are signed in.

Much of Quran Feham keeps working when the connection drops.

Download Paras
Downloaded Mushaf Paras open with no internet at all.
Open surahs once while online
Surahs you have already opened in the reader can be read again offline.
Your things stay on the device
Bookmarks, reading history and learning progress live on your device and work offline.
Reconnect for shared things
Recitation audio, Khatm rooms and account sync need a connection, and catch up when you are back online.
